2012 U.S. Open at Olympic Club – Low-Key Michael Thompson leads High-Profile Tiger Woods

Round one of the 2012 U.S. Open is now history with 27-year-old Michael Thompson firmly in charge — 3 strokes ahead of Tiger Woods, David Toms, Nick Watney, Justin Rose and Graeme McDonald.

Precision Putting – Easiest Way to Lower Your Golf Score!

Who is Michael Thompson, you might ask. That is because he has seldom been in the spotlight and he seems to like it that way.

Thompson said following his round today, “A lot of people don’t know who I am, and I’m totally OK with that because I’ve always been a player that just kind of hangs around.”

Then he went on to say “I don’t give up very easily and I’m very proud of that. Give Tiger the spotlight. I don’t care. I’m going to go out and play my game. If I go out and putt the way I did today, I’ll be contention.”

His putting was superb today. He took only 22 putts. But that’s not all — his putting all year has been excellent. His strokes gained putting (.708) for all of 2012 put him in 6th place in that category — a substantial improvement over his 2011 putting.

Michael is a 6’0″ 185-pound golfer who graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008 and turned pro that same year.

Tiger’s lucky 35-foot putt

On the 5th hole Tiger Woods stroked a 35-putt too hard, but right on line. It dropped into the hole, otherwise Tiger would have had a long come-backer that he most likely would have missed. Tiger called that putt “a fluke. That putt was (otherwise) off the green.”

Precision Putting

Although Michal Thompson took only 22 putts to complete today’s round, regulation par golf “allows” 2 putts per hole or 36 putts total. Most typical golfers usually take even more putts. That is their score is higher than it should be and why PurePoint Golf’s top instructor Bobby Eldridge puts so much importance on Precision Putting.

Having taught over 55,000 players how to develop a great golf swing and shave strokes, Bobby knows what works for the typcial golfer.

Putting is critical skill and Precision Putting is essential to a good golf score

Bobby’s teaching approach is one that breaks putting down into its essential parts. And Bobby demonstrates exactly what to look for to master each part. Then he puts everything together into a putting stroke that is consistent and accurate.

Take advantage of free bonuses that come along with the Precision Putting DVD. They supplement what is taught on the DVD and give you added tools to help you improve your game and your golf swing.

Putting seems so simple. But it requires a good attitude, good strokes, and good reads.

All is covered in Precision Putting.
